I graduated in Computer Science Engineering from the University of A
Coruña (UDC) in 2000. After a short period as a lecturer at the
University of Vigo, I was awarded a PhD. Grant (FPU Grant) by the
Spanish Ministry of Education and came back to UDC. I obtained my
PhD. in Computer Science in 2005 with a work about the application
of Natural Language Processing techniques in Spanish Information
Retrieval. I am currently an Associate Professor at the Dept.
of Computer Science and Information Technologies of the University
of A Coruña (UDC).
My research work focuses on Natural Language Processing and Text
Mining. I am a member of the Language
in the Information Society (LYS) research group on
Computational Linguistics, and member of the Scientific Board of the
Centre for Information and
Communications Technology Research (CITIC). I was also a
member of the founding committee of the Spanish
Society for Information Retrieval (SERI).
