LYS (Language in the Information Society, www.grupolys.org) is an interdisciplinary research group officially recognized by the University of Corunna (code G00079) and the Regional Government of Galicia (code 08IDI0631). It is formed by professors and researchers from the fields of Linguistics and Computer Science who have long been working in the area known as Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing and Language Engineering. External evaluations of the LYS Group were conducted in 2012 and 2015 by the National Agency of Evaluation and Prospective (ANEP) and as a result it has been rated as Excellent, internationally comparable quality in its scientific field.
LYS Group is a partner of the Spanish Network on Resources for Language Technologies (ReTeLe) and the Galician Network on Lexicography (RELEX). Formerly, LYS Group has been de co-ordinator of the Galician Network on Linguistic Resources for a Knowledge Society (RELISCO) and a partner of ESF Research Networking Programme: Evaluating Information Access Systems (ELIAS), Spanish Network on Multilingual and Multimodal Information Processing (TIMM), Galician Network on Language Processing and Information Retrieval (RedPLIR) and Galician Network on Corpus Linguistics (Rede_Corpus). It is also a member of the Research Center on Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of University of Corunna since July 2017.
With respect to international co-operation, members of LYS group form part of the project CLASS: Development of a interdisciplinary master program on Computational Linguistics at Central Asian universities (Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education 585845-EPP-1-2017-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).
